When I turn on the outside tap, water squirts out below the nut, before the 2 attachments: auto watering system and hose. Does this mean the pipe cracked in the cold weather, and if so, how can I repair it? My husband is in hospital and I'd love to get this fixed before he comes home.

OK, when you say 'below the nut' do you mean the smaller nut on top?

I've just looked again. It's actually more of a collar/ring, just above where the pipe divides in 2. Thank you for taking the time to solve my problem!
