I haven't grown rhubard for many years as it required so much sugar to make it palatable but I wondered if modern varieties are any sweeter . Any suggestions ?

Coming from just outside the famous Rhubarb triangle I shopuld know this but I dont and therefore resorted to google. Apparently field grow types are sweeter than greenhouse ones. Generally the redder they are the sweeter Canada Red and Cherry Red being good examples of sweeter types.

Thanks I'll see if I can find them. I do remember years ago Apple Rhubard which has large sticks was the most bitter whilst Cherry Rhubard which had thin sticks was the most sweet or a better term would be less bitter. However I found both of them very bitter. So I will try your recommendations. Thanks .
