Has anyone had any luck with growing avocado plants from the stones inside? I made avocado smoothies for breakfast this morning, and it seems a shame to throw away these healthy-looking stones!

Thanks trt, Ok to put them out in the garden then? Do you have to bring them in in the winter?
I grew houseplants from them boxtops. They were very tall with little leaves on the top! I don't think they would survive the garden

Mine looked like this

except the stalk grew longer and longer and I never got any more leaves. It lasted for about six years and I put it outside and it died!!

The cats would like it, though!
:o)

(I love advocados. We eat loads of them - perhaps I will try again with a few stones and see what happens)

Have you tried smoothie-ing them Lottie? I had never heard of it until we were served avocado smoothies on holiday as an option for breakfast juice, now we are keen. One avocado per person (also helps with the five a day!).
Not tried that. We have at least one a day each and tend to have them as a starter with some herring, sardine, prawns etc and some seafood sauce. In fact, I could eat that right now.

I will try them as a smoothie though.
have grown them as a house plant, but they have never got any bigger than a green shoot about 3 inches high. but best of luck trying
