when is the correct time of year to prune my Acer trees ?

Late Spring although pruning can be left till the Summer. I'm going to prune mine at the end of May.

the correct time of year is when they are dormant, so from November to February. Also other than pruning to aid shape or remove dead and damaged stems there is not real need to prune an Acer.
