Can you put bones in a compostor. I am refering to large meat bones and not chicken bones. If this can be done what sort of compostor would you need. Many thanks in anticipation.

do you mean a compost heap? If so I wouldn't, certainly not in the UK as the rats will come. You can burn them in a slow fire and use the ash but make sure that your council allows fires
I hope you haven`t murdered someone asking a question like that.
Bones are not compostable , dump them in the general refuse bin .
I\'ve just had this vision of a skeleton sitting in a compost heap ! Just a thought, dogs love a large meat bone, are there any in your neighbourhood?
I have occasionally put very small, eg small chicken bones, on my compost heap. Also, if I find a small dead bird in my garden I add the body to the heap. In all cases, I make sure that I put it in the middle of the material in the heap. I have never noticed any signs of an obvious skeleton when I turn the heap or when I dig it out. BUT, I would not put large bones on the heap.
