Hi have posted this again as last one seems to have gone astray. I have a large old (at least 50 yrs) apple tree in my garden which produces really nice bramley cooking apples. However, it produces tons and tons (more than I can use or give away) and the windfalls are ruining the lawn. Does anyone know if or how you can reduce the amount of fruit in the future?

to reduce the amount of fruit you will need to prune out the amount of fruiting branches on the tree. You can do this at any time but it is best done when the tree is bare during winter. If you are unsure which are the fruiting branches then wait until the blosson appears and then prune them out. You can also remove early fruit set thus thinning the amount of visible fruit before it becomes ripe.
