Golden Privet Problem

Hi,

A few months ago I planted a couple of young Golden Privets and was pleased to find them growing really quickly and healthily over the last few months. However, I have returned from 2 weeks holiday and noticed that some of the leaves have started turning brown. I am told that there was plenty of rasin when I was away (I'm in Glasgow - what else???) so I don't think watering has been the problem.

Can anyone suggest what might be the problem?

Thanks in advance!
