My acer tree is in trouble

I have a small, red ornamental acer tree, about 5 years old, always been healthy, but in the last 6-8 weeks the leaves have gone dry, cracked, brown and curling up. I cannot see any disease. It looks like drought, but it's not, as we've had so much rain. If anything, the ground is often waterlogged. Does anyone know what the problem is and what I can do about it?

Hi Terry, I have got the exact same problem with my acer and have been told by a well informed neighbour that it is wind or sun burn, try not to let strong sun on it if the leaves are wet.
Same problem....think it's wind as my tree has little protection from the elements.

It will recover.....have had this before
I have 2, one in a bonsai pot which did this last year but not this, & one in an 8" terracotta pot which was ok last year but not this!! Neither gets sun or wind. I did use tap water on the 8" pot one when my water butts were empty & I suspect this may have been the cause. Another problem can be using too much fertiliser which will cause the plant to dehydrate, in which case if it`s in a pot try to rinse it out.
