I have found my lovely emerald and diamond engagement ring - after some time being stuck in a drawer.
It really needs a clean - my husband said put it in a glass of coca cola, what do you think?

Leaving aside the title of your post, which is likely to attract spurious replies, all Im going to say is that if you immersed an old Penny in Coca-Cola it would turn black. It might not affect emeralds, diamonds or gold, but theres probably a better way.
My mother in law would us vodka to clean her rings, dont drink it afterwards though lol

Oh lovely, my birthstone's an emerald, but I don't have one :o(
I wouldn't use anything harsh on emeralds. You could try cleaning it gently with a make-up or artist's brush in a bowl of lukewarm water with a gentle liquid soap added (not over the sink, you don't want to lose it again down the plughole!) Rinse well & polish with a soft cloth.
why not just take it into a jewellers, ok so it will cost you but it will be done properly and isnt it worth it.
Alkaselter in warm water works really well on old jewelry or use a toothbrush and a little bit of toothpaste if it's really bad or to get the dirt out of any hard to reach places.

(can't believe nobody's given the obvious replies with that wuestion title yet!!)
Best way is to coat your finger in the cleaning cream, and then slip your finger inside your ring. To get the inside edges clean, you should then twist your finger around inside your ring.

I really can not believe that nobody has filled this post with smutty replies, thought it would be asking for trouble.
Maybe it was too early in the day............
I was shocked too :)
Well Chuck, I must say I thought temptation like that would have been far too much for you to cope with!!
Best cleanser for precious stones including diamonds::::denture tables.......especially flat (after nan's used it)!
A cup of hot water with a drop of washing up liquid added, soak the ring for an hour or so then give it a gentle scrub with a soft toothbrush. Rinse and polish dry. I used to work in a jewellers and this was the way we did it there.
