Hi. I've bought a secondhand Lawnflite 920 12.5hp, 40" ride-on mower with no instruction book.

I've got a 3 acre field which was getting a bit overgrown and I've cut it once with the blade at it's highest position. However, it keeps cutting out either when cutting uphill or when I try to lower the blade below the highest cut-height setting.

I've been using it on the fastest variable speed setting but it doesn't appear to make any difference if I set the speed drive to a lower setting...

Can anyone help or give me general pointers on how to use the thing properly?

Thanks,
JG

Hi,

Sounds like the seat safety switch is faulty. There is a switch built into the seat which causes the engine to cut out if the blades are engaged, but no one is manning the mower. If this switch is faulty, that would cause your symptoms as the cutout would work even if you are sitting on the mower. Hope this helps. There is a similar switch on the gear selector which cuts out the engine if the mower has reverse engaged with the blades down.

Cheers,
Ripface
