Can you put empty aerosol cans in a local authority glass & can recycling bin? I can't find any guidance on this issue as to whether it causes danger when the cans are actually crushed.

In Wiltshire, I remember reading on our last recycling leaflet than aerosol cans can be put in our "black boxes" for recycling. Can't find the leaflet now (probably recycled it!) but I'm sure it said to take the plastic lid off and do not crush.
Most recycling boxes take aerosol cans so it should not be a problem but the best thing to do is give your Council a call and they will verify that its ok.
Oh .. and it is usually without the tops.
We were told by the council, "yes". But, preferably, remove any plastic lids/nozzles you can.
It depends which local authority it is. York city council are now recycling aerosol cans - put them in with bottles and cans.
