I'm surprised Wordle hasn't been added to the AB 'regular daily questions' :-)
Spoiler alert...

Using yesterday's answer as today's initial guess will give 2 green letters to start with!

Sorry for my spoiler appearing in the question - I forgot that AB filters out the newlines I put in.
Why put spoilers in at all? People do it because they enjoy it. Don't 'spoil' it for them.
I could have got today’s in three goes, but I didn’t think the new owners would use such a British word. Never heard an American say it.
I know cleverjo!!! I got it in 3.
I’ve only ever played it twice so not really familiar with the game - so do you literally have to completely guess a 5 letter word to start with?? No clues whatsoever - any random 5 letter word??
Just any random 5 letter word you fancy and then work on the clues you get.
So the letters that turn green are in the word….. god it could be anything!! Lol
Yay! Got it in 4! Blimey it could have been anything, was pure luck that I got the first 2 letters in the right order on 2nd guess lol.
The green letters are in the correct place, orange in the word but wrong place, grey not in word
Smow, it's best to always begin with a word that contains more than a couple of vowels. I begin with the word 'adieu' - 4 vowels. On those rare occasions when none of those vowels are used, nor indeed the 'd', i follow with a word such as 'storm' which contains the remaining vowel plus popular consonants.
Smowball - if you get hooked and want to do more than one word a day, there is Wordle Archive which has all the words from the beginning which you can do in order or you can click random and you can do as many as you like.
Fab - Thankyou!
same here, Cloverjo, I thought it was British but I wanted to try out a couple of letters. Very surprised I actually solved it.
Yesterday's answer caused a bit of a fuss, I see.
Is it actually a British or American game?
American, Smow, though I think it was devised by an immigrant from Wales. The NY Times has just bought it up.

Wordle was created by Josh Wardle, a Welsh-born software engineer living in America:

He has included American spellings, with words such as 'labor', 'favor' and 'humor'.
what was wrong with yesterday's answer, Tilly? Just Americans who were outraged because they hadn't heard the word before?
I should have got todays one quicker than I did. Thought I was going to run out of goes!

Yes, I thought with 2 repeated letters that yesterday's word would be quite tricky.
