I have a lot of green tomatoes still growing in the garden and I don't think they will ever ripen now,if I pick them and bring them indoors, I don't have a greenhouse, would they ripen in the warmth of the house?

Wrap them individually in newspaper, and place them in a dark, not too warm, place. They will ripen slowly: check them periodically.

They will ripen but if you've got a lot why not make some chutney? their are lots of nice recipes on the net.

Tomatoes don't have to be red to be edible, just like peppers. Just chop them up and cook them, they're delicious.
I was assuming that adik wanted nice, whole, fresh tomatoes. Using my method, I've had fresh ones up until Christmas.
Seem to remember, if you include a ripe tomato in with the green ones they will ripen better. Something to do with the gasses given off by the ripe one.
