Help me please - how can I remove vegetable oil out of a pair of jeans? I have since washed them too.  I think I may have made things worse.

I've found that if you spill something fatty, like mayonnaise for example, on denim, that a "normal" wash won't work. You need to wash them at at least 60 degrees, and maybe using a stain remover specifically designed for oil would help too.

..this works everytime..

get your  washing up liquid like fairy or something and work it into the stain then wash as normal..i personally think about 40' as the higher the washing water it can actually set the stain and make it harder to get out..

afterall, if fairy gets pans and plates clear of grease it will work on your clothes too..plus no bleaching effect will occur..good luck sf68! Let me know if it doesnt work-there is other stuff you can try too-this way is the easiest and most effective!

I agree with alfiejones - rub very hard with washing up liquid then wash as normal - you may have to do this several times after it has dried as the stain is old.

I'm sure I heard somewhere that if you put a piece of brown paper on the stain and then cover it with a hot iron for a few seconds, then the stain will become lighter.  Each time you do this, the stain gets lighter.  Well, if it doesn't work, it won't do any harm.

Vanish Oxi Action !!!!!

It's great. I use it for all stains and haven't yet come across one that I couldn't remove. It doesn't bleach the clothing and it's just fantastic. I for some reason always seem to get som food down the front of my tops although I'm very careful and in the past had to throw quite a few tops out because I couldn't get them clean. this was until I got recommended Vanish Oxi.

It's the powder one which I find best for the real tough stains and I make a kind of paste with it mixed with water and have often left a top or like with it on for about 4-6 hours. Nothing happens to the clothing other than it becomes stain free.

Jeez, I should starts taking comission from Vanish....
