I have some very strange looking tomatoes growing in tubs in the garden. It looks very much like 3 or 4 tomatoes have fused together and it is happening to 90% of them.

Is there anything I can do the prevent any new tomatoes from developing this way as they don't look very tasty as they are so malformed?

Many thanks.

Ha haaaa - just wait until you see the photographs!!!
I have some like that, looks like they have fused together, very odd. I can't wait for them to ripen.
Hi,
My supposedly beef steak tomatoes have also fused together. apparantly it is because of the weather this year, and the lower tomatoes on the plant suffer but the Higher ones should be o.k. This was an article by the irish gardener, dia mond some one. the lower tomatoes are getting colder and causing mutation. all in all, it has been a bad year for tomatoes, green house ones have grown very tall but few fruits. This gardening chap also suggests that you should try planting some runner bean seeds now, as there is still time to grow them and reap a crop.( the early planting failed for a lot of people) I think he may in spain, because here in lincolnshire we will be frozen in again by november!

Good luck,
Annie.
