Are you looking for perennials or annuals?

Hopefully perennials so I dont have to keep replacing them
houseleeks and other succulents,,, a rosemary in a biggish tub with some thymes and sage with variegated foliage, agapanthus bulbs,(cram as many as you can afford into the pot as they flower better when pot bound) an olive tree again in a large container, troughs of ivy, small conifers and small euonymus plants, and white flowered annuals like tobacco plants and pinks, jasmine will grow ok in a largish container, and I'd also try an orange tree if I could take it indoors for the winter... if you are down south add the white passion flower up a wall trellis.... evening sun makes perfume a real must do as you will get the best of the fragrances

Thanks Rowanwitch. I will take that list with me to the garden cente. We are not down south though we are in North Wales I like the sound of the Olive tree if is possible and I had thought some ivy trailing down from the balcony might look nice. At the moment it just looks very bare.
