Has anyone any advice my camellia has a horrible black little fly and lots of black sooty patches on the leaves what do I need to get to get rid? TIA

put the hose on it and give it a good wash. the soot is fungus growing on patches of sticky nectar secreted by the flies.
Is it planted on a south facing wall? The early sun, if it touches the buds makes them fall or die.

I have hosed it off but a lot of the leaves seem to be falling off, really sad as I have had it for a while and dont want to lose it......
There's another thread of camellias too, tilly - mine was affected by the frost. Go and buy a suitable bug spray from a garden shop!
I have previously used to good effect half tsp washing up liquid in a spray and leave for a few hours then a forceful wash with a hose pipe.
