I really need to mow the lawn but I have crocus plants there. The flowers are long gone but the leaves are still there. If I mow over them would it ruin them for next year? Would it take the `goodness` out of the plants or does it not make much difference at this stage?

Are they all over the lawn, can you not mow round them for a few more weeks? This time of year you should not cut your grass too short anyway and I think that if you can leave a few inches of leaf intact and give them a feed of bonemeal they may be OK.

They are all quite close together so it`s not really possible to mow in between them. I`ve since looked on a crocus website and it says to not mow until the leaves turn brown so I`ll have to leave it a while. Next door has mowed their lawn at the front and mine looks terrible by comparison. The grass is about 4" high!
