Brown on lamp connections to black with red sleeve. Blue on lamp to the two other blacks. Reds connect to each other & nothing else. Earth on lamp to green/yellows. Turn power off before doing anything!
It is illegal these days unless you are having it checked by an electrician.
Look here fore help & diagrams;

Razza, sorry but that's cobblers! I should know I AM an electrician unlike you, I suspect. The only time it would even begin to come under Part P of the Building Regs (Building regs, note, not "Law") is if it were in a kitchen or bathroom, but even then such a task is not beyond the skills of a sensible person, it's only the notification to LABC that's the issue.

Replacement of a light fitting is not "illegal" in any respect and is well within the skills of most householders. Gloriag, please don't listen to razza, he/she is talking rubbish!
Part P of the building regulations 2005
And if you read Approved Document P (which defines Part P of the Building Regs) then you'll see absolute prove of the cobblers you were talking! One of us knows what he's talking about - and it ain't you! Stop digging your hole, it's deep enough already.
razza, have a read of this;

You might learn something.
"Work consisting of -

(a) replacing any fixed electrical equipment which does
not include the provision of—

(i) any new fixed cabling; or

(ii) a consumer unit"

Is NOT notifiable under Part P of the building regs.

Need anymore proof you're talking rubbish yet?
Razza .. You silly person.
^ (change your name to ROZZER)
