Probably easier to fit a cabin hook to the door.
Question Author
should the fitters have put hinges that take the door out further to miss the sill ?
fix a door stop - easily screwed intot he floor
Question Author
the door opens outwards and is 12 ins from the ground
Ah - oh! Screw a doorstop to the window (at right angles)? (I've done that before now!)
Question Author
thanks for your answers but im going to cut the sill back as that is stopping the door and wrenching the hinges
Phil - prob stating the obvious, but have you checked the door handle won't then hit the glass [if the door will lay flush with the window? once the sill's cut back]
Sometimes it helps to stick a pic on here with imageshack or the like
I wouldn't cut the sill, it's there for a reason, it's designed to stop rainwater from discharging onto the brickwork thereby preventing penetrating damp. It'll look awful too.
What about projection hinges Phil?
Also "parliament" hinges.
