Hi - help! I have recently had a pvcu door fitted for a visually impaired elderly mother who is having difficulty locking the door by pushing up the handle and locking, Is it possible to install an interior barrel bolt for night security? Thanx in advance

i dont know what you mean by interal barrel bolt but you can fit a thumb turn barrel. which means you dont need a key to lock the door.you can get them from most diy shops. if your mother has week wrist the door could be adjusted to suit her, if she finds it hard to grip the key, then places like betterware do things to help....
Hi you could try this http://www.screwfix.com/prods/12540/Security/E uro-Mortice-Locks/Thumb-Turn-Euro-Cylinder-35m m-35mm-Nickel you may have to get local upvc firm to fit could you extend the handle to give better leverage for your mum HTH Tez
Hi Mrs Willow, You can get a thumb turn lock, however the sizes of the barrel depend on the make of door. The one on the link show a 35/35 cylinder, but there are different sizes.
Alternatively you can get an extended handle that helps with the leverage.
It might be an idea to involve local double glazing firm to advise, particularly on the size of the door barrel. Either way it should not be too expensive Regards Al
