Hi, I dont know if anyone will be able to help but I thought i'd give it a try, my washing machine is a Hotpoint FEW12 the softener wont go through on my machine. I have taken the drawer out and cleaned it thoroughly but when the wash has finished the softener is still in drawer only more watery. Our guarantee ran out a month ago ( typical) and I wanted to try a few things myself to get it working before getting an engineer in and paying over a 100!!!! Any ideas??? thanks

my machine is quite an old one a Hotpoint 9506, it was the cheapest in the shop when I bought it, unfortunatly the reason it was cheap was because it does not process the fab con., I only realised this when I read the manual. the way I get around it is I dont put conditioner in at the beginning, I let the machine run it's cycle, then I put a cap full of conditioner into the drum and re set the machine for the final rinse, it uses more electricity and water though, but it might be ok for you as a short term solution. or maybe you could try some of the 2 in 1 washing powder/fab con.

check out the local paper or yellow pages for a tradesman , they are often a LOT cheaper thaN THE hOTPOINT ENGINEERS.
Had several machines over the years and every one had moments of choosing whether to completely take powder and/or conditioner. I now use 2 in 1 liquid wash which flows easily and completely thru each time and is one more thing that doesn't get me in a dander.
Hi

Try doing the following:
1. Pull out washing machine from its hole and remove its three pin plug from mains.
2. Remove the screws holding the top panel of machine.
3. Remove the powder/softener drawer.
4. The drawer usually sits in another container which drains via pipes down into the drum. Check the rubber pipes as they are probably blocked with old powder.
5. These pipes are usually held on with wire clips. Compress the clips with pliers and remove any pipes one by one. Soak the pipes, push gently through with a bamboo stick or similar and replace making sure clips go on securely (or you will flood your kitchen).
6. When you are sure pipes are secure (test by pouring water into drawer container) replace drawer and machine top, replacing any screws you removed.
7. Replace mains plug and test by doing a rinse. If all is well push back in and smile as you have saved money....

Hope this works for you as it did for me.
