Plastering uneven brick walls

Hi

I'm in the process of getting a new bathroom fitted and getting my walls tiled.

The walls in the bathroom had wood panelling to dado height and when I've removed this the walls are bare brick and about 3/4 of an inch receded from the top of the walls that didn't have the panelling.

I've been told it will be too expensive to get a plasterer to fill this in and I should get a joiner to fit "false walls" before I can get it tiled. Is this right?

I hope this makes sense.

Hi, That should not cost a fortune, ask a plasterer for price,it wouldn't take long, but the quickest way is to fill it in with plasterboard, the walls are dabbed with a bit of adhesive then plasterbord pushed onto it it can then be skimmed or tiles can be put straight onto the plasterrboard, good luck, Ray

a joiner will charge just as much as a plasterer.a good plasterer will do you a good job.but why dont you try doing it yourself .plasterboard and plasterboard Adhesive just take your time you should get a good finish
