I have a Mira Advance shower 3 years old and it has stopped working. There is power to the d/p switch but nothing on the shower. After ringing Mira and being assured that the fault is not with the shower i turned off the fuse to the shower to take a look in the switch. Even with the shower turned off at the fuse box every time i touched the internal parts of the switch with my screwdriver the whole house's electric tripped off. Does anyone know if this is a fault with my wireing or the switch?

Sounds very much like the switch is faulty, if your house is protected by an earth leakage trip this would explain why it trips when you touch the switch with a screwdriver as it would detect neutral currents passing through the screwdriver and the metal box.
Yup, a neutral to earth will trip the trip even if the fuse is out. Sounds like a faulty DP switch.
