I have had several attempts at putting a curtain pole upon a wall which is 'Black Mortar', consequently this has destroyed the integrity of the wall and it is impossible to get a good fixing.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Try putting a pattress on the wall first. Cut a lenght of 3"x 2" planed timber to the size of the window + 6" to allow for a 3" overlap at each side. Then apply an adhesive such as Grip Fix or No Nails etc to the back of it and fix this to the wall in the position you want it with some nails to hold it there temp untill the adhesive goes, off usually 24 - 48 hrs. You can know paint it to match the wall and fit your curtain pole to the pattress. Good luck.
