Problem with indicators on Peugeot 206

Just bought the car, it's 5 years old. The left indictor keeps coming on for no reason - if you wobble the indicator stalk it sometimes turns off, but will then come on again about 30 seconds later. The garage (where I bought the car recently) have said over the phone that it's probably the stalk and they may need to replace it. However I now that the electrics on 206's can be dodgy and don't want to get fobbed off - could it be the stalk and if so, will replacing it solve the problem? Thanks for any help.

Chances are it is the stalk. I have seen similar pproblems on other peugeots before. One bloke decided I was trying to rip him off so didn't get the job done, he just kept wiggling it. Three weeks later he had a fire in the car caused by the electrics around the steering column! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Thanks for the advice!

Hi, i have a 307 and my indicated kept doing the same thing. I can't remember what they garage actually said but i know they replaced it and it doesn't happen anymore. After reading what wallis1007 has said i think you best book it in the garage as soon as possible.
