I am looking to replace my kitchen worktops(laminate).Have looked online at literally dozens but cannot decide ..found a couple I really liked at B&Q but reviews were not good. Some say matt is better than gloss...I am after a black granite look..average price.

Any advice will be welcome.

Vinyl coated board ? If you can afford to treat yourself nothing beats the real thing.
I wouldn't get black. It may look lovely but every single drop of anything will show up. We have a a beige granite since 16 odd years, it has a crack or two now, ( due to bad workmanship at the installation , but that's another story ) and I would have it again in a heartbeat.
If WilsonArt laminate counter tops are available in the UK, they're certainly worth a look:

We remodeled a kitchen maybe 5 or so years ago and didn't want to spend the $50 per square foot for granite and chose this product instead. We've been very happy with the results, here in the U.S. as well as the excellent wearability..
Yep, we have WilsonArt, Clanad.

Thanx.
I have had a cream marble look laminate worktop for 18 years...still good as new,but am now fed up with it and have decided to change it.
Clanad,what colour is yours?
What are the views on a wood effect worktop???

Kloofnek, our WilsonArt pattern is Bella Capri, seen on this link:

(Click on the "Load More" link twice, it's pattern 1822.

Ours has a rather large "U" shaped center island as well as cabinet tops along two walls, so there was a fair amount of surface to cover. We didn't want the counter top to overwhelm the cabinets (Mid-Range Oak with no handles showing) as well as complimenting the flooring which is also finished oak plank about 3 1/2 inches wide with a semi-gloss finish...
