I have bought a rather nice writing slope on ebay, however the lock doesn't work at all. Its quite easy to remove though and in fact I suspect that its not the original one anyway. I've hunted around but the only supplier of replacements I could find is in america and the p and p is huge.

Does anyone know of a UK supplier of writing slope (wooden box) locks please? Either new or old but they must work and come with a key.

starting to get a bit nippy here, but it's supposed to be about 8 degrees. Saturday it'll be a max of 5 (realfeel of minus 2). BRRRRR
You'll have to put your slippers in the microwave Jno.
Pizzled with rain all day here and we've had two power cuts of a couple of hours each time.Snow forecast for Saturday and -3C real feel.
The lights are still flickering now and again.
Shaney sounds like living here. I didn't think it happened in UK. 16° here but am wrapped in a quilt on settee. Am off to bed now.
Oight Oight all.
Good morning everyone. Hope you all had a good night.
Morning all
It's a chilly one too.
We had another power cut last night .Half way up the stairs to bed and out they went again. I nearly buffered over .Had to fumble my way up and find the torch, but it was only about an hour. Mr S snoring away oblivious to it.
good day all...hope you're all ok...bright,sunny and breezy but it's turning very chilly now. In fact the temperature dropped yesterday. I was busy with my sis btw, apologies for my absence :) Who's supposed to be getting the snow this weekend? Not us I hope although I'm prepared, Tarquin's bought me a lovely coat from Zara for xmas, I was looking at it online when he arrived a week or so ago, and I've bought some ankle boots...nothing special but they've got elastic round the back of the ankles, I don't think I could bear rigid ones with this tendonitis. Have I said that before? I'm losing the plot.

hello, its cold here and grey but we are inside and warm :) I am boot (and shoe) picky as well Robi.
any shoes that is comfortable and fits is good for me but the Skerchers I got last month turnout to have one lace longer than the other and I keep tripping over. I have just spent half an hour shopping for a better pair, and come home with one that turns out to be the too-long length. Maybe I will try again tomorrow. I shall be swanning round Rome next week and do not want to fall over unnecessarily.
Have been messing with phone and now it has huge icons fit for a pensioner. Cant stand it, it is driving me mad. I've really gone and done it this time!
19° here! Getting fed up. I mean winter is supposed to be winter ain't it!!!

sitting up monitoring the tortoise heating tonight. Temp is forecast to dip between 1 and 2 am so have got a while to stay awake yet. Assuming all goes well tonight then that’s it unless we get a spell or really really cold weather.
Can't you just shorten the laces Jno ,we can't have you falling head first into the Trevi fountain.
By heck it's turned cold here .Bit of a shock to the system.Wore my boots today for the first time this autumn/winter.
As per usual though the shops are roasting and I broke out in a sweat in Wilkos while looking at the nail varnishes. I pulled one out of the little rows they put them in and they all fell out and rolled all over the floor.Thank gawd none of 'em smashed.I had a hell of job rounding them up.
Zara have some lovely coats Robinia ,now let me guess which one :)
Night all.

I felt a right lemon .I'm so fumbly fingered .I was hoping a nice young man might have dashed to my rescue but it was very quiet in there ...until I appeared and started to wreck the place :)
Hope your torties get snuggled down.

just going out to check.....
well, where's the bleak midwinter? Accu says periiods of heavy snow will continue for 97 minutes, but they're just making it up. It's a bit grey and chilly out but that's all. I've had to cancel the igloo-making.
Morning....chilly? It's a perishing rf of minus 5C here. It looks lovely from the inside, sunny and blue sky but oh deary me no, even with three coats on I'm not going out today. It's hit my body like a truck, I keep getting a chest flutter and go a bit dizzy...must be the air pressure, I can feel it in my ears.

Lol shaney, I don't want to look at the Zara site in case they've started reducing things. :)
