Roller for walls, brush for smaller areas.
Are you going to be emulsioning walls and ceilings ?
Question Author
I am embarking on my first ever attempt at decorating. My friends husband said always use a brush to emulsion walls then his friend said no, a roller. Am confused.
Right, if you use a roller you will get splatter from it and you will find that you will use more paint than you would with a brush.
I'm a roller girl..............
Question Author
Will the finish with a roller be better than a brush, tonyav. ?
Yes crafty, a roller is quicker.and I have heard that your partial to a quicky lol.
Roller, Sammy....wearing a shower cap. Much better finish I find and ceilings are easy with a long handle on the roller. x
You will probably get a more even finish with a roller.
A Rolls Royce on the ceiling? You are hallucinating Tony.

Right, thanks for all your info. I will go forth to Homebase tomorrow and look for paint.

Then to Boots for shower cap lol lol
Must be Daisy, it's those blasted paint fumes.

Good luck Sammy.

I have a feeling that I will give it a go then get a man in.
Indeed you will not get a man in Sammy48!!!! At least not for the painting. :-)

You can do it without a man...go for it! x
Question Author
I will give it a go gness, but my attention span is very short, I may get as far as opening the tin and putting the shower cap on my head, but would I rather put strokes on the wall or stroke the thigh of a fit tradesman. Lol lol
Oooo...To hell with my last post.....go for the fit tradesman!... ;-) x
Cut-in with a brush then use a roller on the end of a roller pole so you can work from the floor.
Question Author
Should I remove the shower cap before said fit tradesman crosses my threshold, gness ?
If your motivation is already low then definitely roller for the bulk of the walls. You need to be quite skilled to get a good finish with a brush.
Sammy!!!!! Ditch the shower cap.....full waxing, facial, manicure and hairdo is the perfect preparation for this decorating job...x
