We want to replace all our current brass coloured door handles with more modern chrome ones. As there will be old screw holes we think that types with a backplate would be better. As there are a lot of doors can these handles be bought in bulk and from where? Thanks:))

In the first instance I would go to a Knobs & Knockers type shop and find a door handle that feels comfortable in your hand and looks the part.

I started going down the online route for door handles and having visited a shop where I could actually feel and use the handle made a massive difference to what I wanted in my head versus what I wanted in my hand.

Once you've found a handle to your liking then you could investigate online procurement or see if your local company will do a discount for bulk purchase.

Thanks Eccles cake rocks...sounds like good advice. We had already changed one last year from B and Q I think and we like it but it is pricey at £28 for each set. Research seems to indicate British made are better as the innards are brass.
How interesting. I'm wanting to change common old chrome ones for traditional brass ones. :-) Funny old world.

Your local DIY sheds will have ranges. Or there are plenty of sites on the Net you can search for. Unsure what bulk discounts are available. I'd be inclined to think you'd probably need to buy more than a house worth of them to get a decent discount.

Thanks old geezer! You could have these old ones of ours but I'm afraid that the top surfaces are peeling so were clearly not full brass!!
Have a look here to get an idea of the style you'd like.

The prices do get lower the more you buy, but you'd really be looking at buying maybe 50 or a hundred to qualify as bulk buying. One house is probably not really enough.

The Builder..thank you for the link:)). As you say we have less than 50 so I see what you mean about bulk buying! I think I will go to view local suppliers then I can see the style and then use your link for costings etc. many thanks.
I changed all my door knobs to satin chrome, and all my socket covers as well. Cost a small fortune from B&Q.............

The builder quick question..looked at link and for example the one called Serozzetta lever code 202157 seems to be for left handed people..am I missing something??
.......... er ............ unless I'm missing something Keenz, I think you're having me on ;o))))))
Like left-handed paint?

I guess you mean the Cuatro. Where does it say that?
