"Grendles modor. Waes se gryre laessa efne swa micle, swa bid maegtha craeft, wig-gryre wifes, be waepned-men". As stated you will find Grendel (and his mother!) in the poem "Beowulf" which is a blend of historical events and Nordic legend. It tells of the adventures of a Scandinavian hero, Beowulf, who saves the Danes from the seemingly invincible monster Grendel, then from Grendel's mother. There is also a book "Grendel" by John Gardner which is in print and available through Amazon.com for less than 10.

you are very welcome
