It made me think,
Where were you when JFK got shot? and
Where were you when the Twin Towers were hit?

these are two dates in history where people say they knew where they were..
I was 17, when JFK was assasinated, my friend was staying over and we were going on a trip the next day (Sat) to the Edinburgh tattoo, when there was a newsflasf that Friday night!
the
The twin Tower, we were in Corfu, went up to our room, switched the television on,,, I thought it was a film!!

OMG it was dreadful, will never forget the sombre mood of the people in the hotel that fornight.

Yeah joy, that twin towers was like a horrer movie. It felt like a death in the family to me.
I wasn't born when JFK got shot. I was at work when I first heard about the Twin Towers.

And I was in Cornwall on holiday with my friend when the London bombings went off. I was trying to get hold of my mum on the phone to see if she was ok as she works a few streets away from Downing Street.

JFK was shot when I was still at school.............watched the twin towers on my PC in the office in total disbelief.....
I wasn't born when JFK was shot.

I was at work in an office when the Twin Towers got hit. My immediate thought was a terrorist attack, I remember we crowded around my boss's PC and watched as the horror unfolded. I remember feeling sick as it unfolded and feeling that the whole world was under attack.

The day London got hit with the bombers I should have been there, but at the last minute it came out of my diary and was replaced with something else. I had no idea anything had happened (I was in court all morning) until I switched my phone on to get about 10 worried messages from my family.

Joy why are you still friggin green!!!!!!!!!!! You;ve been green now for weeks.......... anyway Hello to you...you sound good..:-)
9/11 - I finished work early then. Was just watching the lunchtime news when it broke on air - didn't move for over 6 hours.

Kennedy, can't remember - was only 8
I know I was in school when John Kennedy was assasinated, I vaguely remember the newsreels running it over and over. I knew it was very very serious, I remember his brother's assassination much clearer, we were on holiday from school when that happened, I remember listeing to the radio for updates as he was in hospital very quickley.

I was at home the day the twin towers were attacked, it was confusing and terrifying,
Also not born for JFK

Twin towers, I was at work.... we first heard a little bit about it on the news, a few jokes circulated about the office until the full details then became clear and a TV was put on..... and the office went very very quiet!

The day London got hit I was again at work in mid Essex, but as I live in a commuter zone I know a lot of people that work in London so that was a worrying day until I'd heard from them all.

I remember the news of the twin towers because my mum rang to tell me. It was horrendous, and I don't think anyone got much work done that day.
I phoned a friend of mine in London to check that he was OK. He lives very close to where one of the London bombs went off, and some shocked people were in casualty at the hospital where he works.
It was awful Joy. My heart was in my stomach. When I did manage to get her on the phone I cried with relief. I cried for the families of those who lost their lives. I get very emotional over these things.

I was in High School at the time.....we found out towards the end of the school day. I remember getting home.....and I had NEVER seen my mother looking so sad and serious. I remember ther being nothing on telly, except a photo of JFKs rocking chair for which he was so well known. I went down the the church...something a 17 year old never does.

The day of the Twin Towers..I was sitting in our lower grounf floor kitchen-diner. My daughter had just come home from school aand had put the telly on.
She came downstairs...saying "mum....one of the towers in NYC have been blown up"
....We spent the next several hours sitting and watching it unfold....there were tears streaming down my face.....as they are now.......oh dear.
I had to call my brother as soon as i could....to make sure he was ok,as he sometimes worked in lower Manhatten.
As it turned out...my sister-in-law was supposed to be there at that time...but she changed her plans......

Only 3 when JFK was shot; remember more about Bobby Kennedy and ML King assassinations.

Twin Towers: It was about 7:30 am where I am; my oldest daughter (then 12) came out of her room after getting ready for school and said a plane hit the WTC. I at first envisioned a light plane accident; we drove to school listening to confused news reports from the morning DJs who usually do not have to cover such events. After dropping her off I drove back home and heard on the way that a second plane hit. That's when I began to suspect it was not a light plane. Came home and turned on the TV news - you know the rest.

Had a good friend whose office was in the WTC and spend two days not knowing; turns out his business took him elsewhere that day.
