July 4th 1776 in Philadelphia
It rather depends on which declaration of independence you mean. Please be more specific.
Reminds me of the age-old question "where was the Declaration of Independence signed?", to which some smart aleck would reply "at the bottom."
True, Jenstar. We hear so much about the declaration of independence here in the US that many of us fail to realize ours is only one of very many in the world. I wonder how many there are?
In Scotland , The Declaration Of Independance was signed at the Abbey in Arbroath on April 6th in 1320.
Oops ! Just realised after posting that that you had already rated Archbishop's answer. Sorry !
Certainly not July 4th 1776 in Philadelphia. The document had to be hawked around the various colonies to get the signtures, and this process took some time. The signing took place between August 1776 and 1781.
