Not sure, but I'm glad I only have two.

Click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pawn_shop for a web-page with the answer. Basically, they're from the symbol of the Italian Medici family who were money-lenders.

 

(PS. I wonder what Fina does with two brass balls.)

I should really have said Ezapf rather than Fina in my earlier PS, shouldn't I?
ezapf might be a monkey, apparently there are a few monkeys looking for welders at the moment, mind you, he sure is a clever monkey, being able to type and use a computer as well!
