**** rating..what's it mean

when u get a star rating by ur name what does that mean....does anyone know?

If you've ever got 4 stars on AB you must be extra special The system only goes up to 3 ;-)

Whenever you answer a question, the questioner can click on 'Rate this answer' and choose whether to give it 1, 2 or 3 stars, depending upon how useful he/she finds it. There are no rules but, generally, 1 star means 'Why did you bother posting?', 2 stars means 'Thanks but you've not fully answered my question' and 3 stars means 'Wonderful. Thanks!

Alongside this answer you should see the words 'Rate this answer', so you know what to do ;-)

Most of the time I don't put stars on the answers I get but that doesn't mean I don't find them useful. I enjoy everybody's contributions and its usually just light-hearted banter.

I should also say that I rate answers if I remember to do so. Normally it just slips my mind.

Most of the time it doesnt really mean anything.
Unless you value the stars?
Though to put things in perspectiove , if a few stars put next to your answers actually makes a major difference to your life and wellbeing , then there may be a void in your life that needs filling.
