It means 'expressing purpose' or 'purposive' and comes from the Greek root-word 'telos' meaning 'aim/end/purpose'.

hi the word is purposeful. "Purposive" may exist in USA but not in cultured countries!!If its in your dictionary turf it nd buy a real one.... Cheers
