I understand that the Mary Rose was raised in 1982. However, I was born in 1980 and am convinced I can remember it on TV! Am I thinking of something else? Or Are my memories confused? Or am I vaguely correct in thinking this?!

Well, over the years there have been any number of programmes on TV about the raising of the 'Mary Rose'. Maybe it was one of those you saw.
On the other hand, I have distinct memories of events that happened when I was only two years old, so maybe you did see it when it happened.
There is a theory (I think it is called game theory cut I may be wrong) that earliest memories are usually of 2 types, ones that you really do experience and ones that through gathered stories and being told certain things over a number of years from a young age, culminate in the belief that it is your own memory.

I believe that the way to tell the difference is whether when you recall the memory you see yourself in the memory (i.e. as an object/entity within the recollection) or whether you see the recollection from within yourself looking out.

Either way, the Mary Rose was lifted in 1982 but has been part of an archaeological site and therefore national interest in the modern era since 1971 when it was rediscovered. Although the wreck was also investigated in 1836-1840.

As heathfield said I am sure many many programmes were made on the MR during that time and lots of news articles for that time it was a big event. And it is possible that the programmes would have been repeated.
