I remember bits of a play from the 70's or 80's probably on BBC1.It was about land girls in World War II.One of them had a mysterious box which hummed. It turned out to be for hair removal. The farmers were all paranoid about German spies and the box was enough for them to get riled up and kill the land girls.Does anyone remember the play, the title and who was in it?

This film came out later, but does sound like it.

no, that film was just a straight - stereotyped, in fact - tale of romance on the farm. No demonic hair removal. (Sorry, I've no idea what the right answer is.)

Thank,Ethel,but it wasn't Land Girls.The one I'm looking for is definitely 70s or 80s.

I've just found it on IMDb,it was called Rainy Day Women, and starred Charles Dance and Suzanne Bertish.Something was saying Suzanne Bertish to me so I looked her up and it just hit me.
Glad you've found it.

That sort of thing keeps me awake at night. Thank heavens for the internet!
