I know nothing either but I rather imagine it is quite valueable.

Hi Jedimistress,

The aircraft featured in your print was commissioned to represent Halifax TL-S W1048 which is now at RAF Museum Hendon. Although not officially named as this aircraft. S for SUGAR crash landed after being hit by flak on a daring raid in April 1942 whilst attacking the German battleship Tirpitz. Pilot Don McIntyre made a wheels up landing on a frozen lake in Norway. All the crew, apart from Flight Sargeaent Vic Stevens, managed to evade capture and eventually made it back to England. Vic was injured during the raid and could not carry on in the deep snow. He was taken in by a local Norwegian family but as the Germans were so close it was decided that he should be handed over. Vic was interned in the famous STALAG LUFT III pow camp. he remained a POW until the end of the war.

I am in regular contact with Vic, he currently enjoys good health and I have taken him to Hendon to visit his aircraft which was raised from the lake in the 1970's

I am a member of The Society of Friends of Royal Airforce Museum Hendon and we are currently working on the Halifax S-Sugar

Please feel free to contact mr for any further information

Regards

Tony
