beer prices in wetherspoons

we went to cardiff at the weekend to watch the speedway. on fri a round of drinks was �7.20. on saturday the same round was over �10. when we queried this they said they had put up their prices in line with what we would pay inside the stadium. they have not done this before when we have been and can they do this??? thanks in advance

They can charge what they want at any time, but they have to legally display a price list around the bar area and charge according to that. If they haven't changed the price list then they could have committed an offence. If you are concerned about it, run it by your local Trading Standards / Consumer Direct.
If you are asking - can they charge whatever they want - answer is Yes.

I believe that pubs need to display their prices on a board near the bar area. They certainly used to, but obviously things have just changed in licensing laws.
