Charles 1st in 1649, but he might be classed as a British monarch.Maybe Lady Jane Grey about hundred years earlier? (Was'nt she queen for ten days or something?). Or maybe Catherine Howard, Henry 8th 5th wife (she was still queen of England). A few suggestions. Its been many years since I took my history O'level.
Charles I was the last, possibly only, monarch actually beheaded whilst alive, though the corpse of Oliver Cromwell, who took the title, 'Lord Protector' , was dug up and beheaded by Charles II.
Hollowhead, did you mean British or English. I know I sound pedantic but there is a difference.
sithlord, lady Jane Gray was the 9 day queen. The last British monarch to be beheaded was Charles 1
Hi, The last English Monach to be beheaded was Lady Jane Grey, who was queen for nine days, then imprisoned in the Tower of London and beheaded shortly after celebrating her 16th birthday, in fact she had to step over the headless corpse of her husband in order to get to the private scaffold site within the Tower. The last British monach to be beheaded was Charles 1, although the last person to be beheaded who had a legitimate claim to the thorwn was the Duke of Momouth, James Scott, the eldest of 13 illegitimate sons to Charles 11. I hope this is helpful to you
