..as far as I remember, Tarpeia was an early Roman bimbo who tried to betray the City to the Samnites or Etruscans or someone, and as reward, observing their conspicuous bling bracelets etc, asked for what they wore on their arms, whereupon they contemptuously crushed her to death with their shields, and serve her jolly well right!
