Ms Thunberg reminds me of Joan of Arc. A young child speaking wisdom to a king. Of course the king's courtiers and lackeys tell the king to ignore this impudent upstart.

Probably as insane.

OG. I take ity you are sceptical about man-made global warming?
'Greta Thunberg' translates as 'obstreperous teen' in English.

I am puzzled why old men are so against this young woman. Is it her youth? Or her sex? There seems to be a lot of knee-jerk reaction without any reasoned argument about her views.
I don't really know whether I agree with her or not. What I find odd though, is the general idea that because she is autistic (and 16) she is being controlled by others. Autism is literally "srlf-containment", independence... she is far less likely to be influenced than most other 16 year olds.
Writing her views off, because of her autism is really far off.
Atheist, sadly you are up against here - Greta is easy meat on here and the trotting out of manipulation, mental illness and of course China will be along very soon.
Messiah it is then.
It doesn't have to be one or the other... but she is no more mentally ill, than any other person.
She reminds me of an annoyingly naive teenager. Funny that, eh?

I'm disappointed that OG has disappeared; apart from our brexit differences I find him civil and reasonable. Unlike him to simply make a disparaging dismissal and then disappear.
He may be, even as we speak be piling kindling around a stake.
No. I'm skeptical about precocious kids tells their worldly wise elders that they're useless it's all their fault and only she, who hasn't the faintest idea of the issues with respect to change, has the answer. Especially as she preaches to those who already know and are trying to do something and avoids nations dragging their heels.
No one is here 24/7.
Some of us look for sustenance at a local hostelry.

So I see! Maybe proofread before posting. I thought you might have stuck up for your 'insane' comment. I think she (Jeanne) was deluded, but I still think that Ms Thunberg is fighting on the right side here. Do you actually disagree that we need to act to prevent a possible global disaster? I have granddaughters, and I want them to have a life. I do my best not to become bitter and disillusioned about being old.
Oh she’s fighting on the right side alright. Her naivety of how political processes work and how her aims are tied in to world economies does her no favours.
Question Author
ZM I don't think she's trying to do herself favours. Why not say what you mean without using cliches? Seriously, I'd like to know what you meant.
I meant exactly what I said. I don’t think I can dumb it down for you any more.
Question Author
ZM; I'd prefer it if you didn't take a polite request for clarification as justification for calling me dumb. I didn't know if 'fighting on the right side' was meant to be straightforward or ironic.
Nope, she is ‘idealogically’ correct. Unfortunately she’s absolutely no idea how the world works that is to say how economies are enmeshed with politics and the gargantuan effort it takes to persuade shareholders of multinational companies to part with their profits.

Incidentally, I didn’t call you dumb, I merely suggested that you were requiring a reduction in my fairly basic explanation. Anyway, my further clarification has hopefully met with your approval.
No. I'm skeptical about precocious kids tells their worldly wise elders that they're useless it's all their fault
—————-
But they are and it is.
The ‘worldly wise elders’ can’t bear that they’re being held to account by a teenage girl with heart, passion and imploring pleas as they gaze at the floor and shuffle their feet.
