I've been asked to edit a biography of a lady now dead. She wrote:-

... but I do recall that we had lunch in a café on Greenwich Common and afterwards walked across the Common to visit some major house. It is the walk that I remember because it took in a fantastic view that made the day for me. On the right one could see Greenwich Observatory, straight ahead Canary Wharf and over to the left Chelsea hospital. I had visited all these places individually but to see them all in relation to each other, spread out in this way was a revelation.

Is that possible?

if she had the observatory on her right and Canary Wharf ahead, she'd be up on the hill. Left dould be the right direction, but whether you can actually see it from up there I don't know. Was it winter maybe?
I don't think you can see Chelsea Hospital from Greenwich. Perhaps she meant Greenwich Hospital (Old Royal Naval College).

Many thanks for all replies. I agree with your belief Calibax, as both places *very roughly* have similar characteristics in outline.
