illegal drinking in the UK

Are there places in the UK where it is illegal to buy or consume alcohol?  In some parts of the US ( sorry ) it is still illegal.

There were some 'dry' parishes in Wales, but as I recall the last one went wet some years ago.

I know there are a few places in the mid west, ( US ) that are still dry, some only on the weekends ( weird ).

Not historically "illegal" in the context of your question, but The East Riding of Yorkshire Council, in consultation with Humberside Police and Parish and Town Councils can prohibit the consumption of alcohol in areas across the East Riding.

Drinking bans are in place across the East Riding. They are currently being plotted on a GIS map and this will be available in the near future.

Several Shires have alcohol limits, and in my county, Cornwall, while there isnt a county wide law prohibiting alcohol, there are certain places, for instance the centre of town, that are alcohol free zones ( you can drink in pubs but not on the streets)

Thank you all for the answers.  I do have another I guess verification If you would.  I have heard that in the UK a pint of ale is actually 20 ounces,  unlike the 16 here.

Is that Ok,  or should I post again?

You're not wrong there....

1 Imperial pint (UK) = 20 UK fluid ounces = 0.568261 litres.
1 pint (US, wet) = 16 US fluid ounces = 2 US cups = 0.473176 litres.
1 pint (US, dry) = 0.550610 litres.
