If Balderdash requested his expulsion from Britain, would we be able to turn him over to the Bangladeshi authorities, or would the ECHR prevent us from doing so?

One Hour and thirty eight minutes to date, and still no response.

Is this one proving to be a little too difficult for some to handle?
We don't extradite people who might face the death penalty, not even to America.
As far as I know that's grounded in common or garden decency rather than any directive from ECHR.
Perhaps people were confused by the reference to /balderdash/?

Regarding the op

I don't think the ECHR comes into it.

The uk has a long established policy not to send people into jurisdictions where capital punishment is even a possibility.
Allegedly committed 18 murders - doesn't need a lengthy discussion.

Who knows what the ECHR would decide. However, if he is guilty of 18 murders, then the tribunal's sentence would be seem appropriate.
I missed the balderdash, though I don't usually. Time for another eye test.
Surprised

Your faith in the Bangladeshi legal system is heart warming

But it doesn't alter our rejection of statutory killing
It isn't a question of faith in another country's legal system, it is purely a view that I have regarding people who contravene rules of a society; irrespective from which country they originate.

Likewise persons should comply with the rules of society within a country they may reside.

Yes these spell checkers have a lot to answer for, it is only a pity it wasn't placed at a more appropriate time, because there is much 'balderdash' entered on this site by the 'usual suspects', and one would certainly be wise to take a trip to Spec Savers if they failed to miss that.
I couldn't have put that better myself.
The answer to your question is, no he could not be handed over to the Bangladeshi authorities . We DO NOT send anyone to a place where there is a possibility of a death sentence. Nothing to do with ECHR.
Who mentioned the ECHR ? Honestly, the standard of education on here..well...Michael Gove may be an idiot,or not, but.... Well, there's no hope, but reform may not be too late . And some of you are old ! :-)

Since the abolition of the death penalty in Britain, we have not sent anyone to anywhere where the death penalty would be carried out.
Sandy, Zeuhl, Fred and Eddie have it right here...nothing whatsoever to do with Europe and humanitarian rights.

I didn't realise that one had to be uneducated to mention the ECHR?

And I would also think that some of those on here who seem to think that they posses a higher standard of education, would not have failed to notice that my ECHR reference was a touch of sarcasm from yours truly.

Trouble with sarcasm, AOG, is it may go undetected by those who think it's exactly what you would write without sarcasm. Indeed 4 regulars failed to notice it .
er yes we do, they still carry out the death penalty, their record on human rights seems very lax. Not saying he shouldn't have gone, glad he was finally got rid of

On 7 July 2013, Abu Qatada was deported from the United Kingdom on a plane bound for Jordan at the RAF Northolt.[
