It might encourage many foreigners to build vacation homes in the country.

It might discourage the government from providing disaster-relief services to its citizens.

It might create massive amounts of environmental refugees who then settle in the flooded areas.

It might hurt the development of crops that would be ruined as waters flood over farming fields

Love your first reason . Holiday home in Bangladesh anyone ?
Well, the food should be good in Sylhet, Eddie. Almost every Indian restaurant in Britain is Bangladeshi and nearly all the cooks and owners are from Sylhet.
Long way to go for a curry Fred .
I've always fancied a holiday home by the sea, or lake..........
how would foreigners building vacation home HURT the economy, would they be bringing in their own builders and materials? Will they bring all their holiday food with them when they use the vacation home?
Banladesh is , indeed, a long way to go for a curry, Eddie. And you shouldn't expect a chicken biryani or a lamb bhuna when you got there. The locals in Sylhet cook fish curry. In a fine example of integration, they take the fish , which sounds a bit like carp, from the waters around the fields of rice. Though why Sylhet should be the source of our 'Indian' cooks is a bit of a mystery anyway. It's hardly like the Lyon area is to French cooking. It's cuisine is not noted for its merit anywhere else.
"...sounds a bit like CARP". Sure that's not an anagram?
