If it turns out that these are Richard III remains, do you think there should be a state funeral?

Wow Flicrat, you're a descendant of the Black Prince. Wrong side of the blanket or not, thats fantastic :o)

Oh, and please don't bow out Flicrat. You're full of interesting info especially with your background.

I've always thought of Richard III as "the wickedest uncle of all time" but I'd still love it to be him.
Duchess of Cambridge specials!
Oh flitcrat, ignore Mike's excesses - he even ignores his own comments from time to time so he's just a Durham pussy cat or whatever that lion thing is they have in the Uni shield......

And the more the merrier here, serious or not. I am not exactly renowned for taking Answerbank too seriously!
No
That's below the belt! Dragging my Durham pussy into it!

Is that like the Essex lion from a few weeks ago. Looked like a corgi in the photo!
Below the belt when the lions rampant appear in the canton of the shield, me thinks not, mike.
Nobody likes a smart arse! Canteens, indeed!
LIONS and TIGERS and.....the 'lions' on the English thingummy look like leopards to me....but then, what do I know, I've never been to England.
where are you wharton?
Brigadoon
PMSL ( and I mean it!)
a long way from the mother country then
Not here for long then Wharton.
That's slightly to the north of Shangri La isn't it Wharton?
From this Day On, I will take AB answers at face value....:-)

I heard Richard IV was buried near there, on the last expedition to Fairyland, after we had left the States to their own devices.
If the body is proved to be that of Richard III he should be given a decent burial. Trouble with Richard is that he suffered a bad press - thank you Shakespeare! History is truly written by the victors, old Shakespeare was writing for a Tudor monarch so it behoved him to do Richard down, Henry Tudor's claim to the throne of England was tenuous at best - Richard of Gloucester's claim was far stronger and I also doubt whether he was responsible for the deaths of those boys in the Tower either
