how high is an articulated lorry? We are going to start taking deliveries from them but we want to make sure they're not going to crash into our overhead cables!

Ask the company with the artics!
Usual heights are up to 4.3m (14ft 1in) , but 4.0m (13ft 1in) are common. Legal max height is 16ft (4.9m) but these are usually for specialist applications. Measure the height of your cables, then ring the supplier of your goods (as you probably won't know who the haulage company is) and specify your max height (this is a quite normal request). Put the agreed height in writing, so its the suppliers fault when they send the wrong height vehicle (which I guarantee, will happen!)
I would also let then know if there are low bridges around. Most of the very high trailers are used for trunk work for low running costs.
