What is the meaning of the word Langley as in Bishops Langley Kings langley ect.

Long wood or clearing.  The Kings part is because King Henry !V was buried there before his son Henry V moved him to Westminster Abbey. 

Langley, a common English place-name, from the Old English lang leah or �long field or woodland�.
Down in Eastbourne we have "Langney" with an n is that the same??
how i see it is that i lived in a town called Rugeley, this comes from RidgeLea that was the "ridge" as in the hill and the "Lea" as the valley. could Langley be based on the same thought as in the "Long Valley" i don't know the landscape there?
Langney - a likely derivative of Count of Eu. Sewal d'Langehers, the 12th Century owner of the Netherfield Hundred, an ancient county which became known as Sussex.
